Part of the Louvre's collection of valuables has been moved to an underground vault at the Bank of France. This was reported by the French radio station RTL.
The Bank of France is located just 300 meters from the Louvre. It is noted that the transfer was carried out discreetly, but under unprecedented security measures. The Louvre jewels will remain in the bank until the completion of a security check at the museum.
Items brought from the Apollo Gallery, including royal insignia, were temporarily placed in the vault.
The Bank of France has a massive vault at a depth of 26 meters, where about 90 percent of the state's gold reserves are stored. According to RTL sources, the transfer of the Louvre's valuables is an exceptional case. It is also noted that the bank's vaults have been storing Leonardo da Vinci's manuscripts, worth more than 600 million euros, for several years.
The Louvre was robbed on October 19. Visitors were evacuated, and the museum was closed for a day due to "emergency circumstances."
