EU encouraged by latest developments between Armenia and Azerbaijan

I am very encouraged by the recent positive steps in the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, including the announcement of the lifting of restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia via Azerbaijan, said Magdalena Grono, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia.

The EU Special Representative welcomed yesterday’s meetings in Geneva, which included the Speakers of the National Assembly and representatives of Armenian and Azerbaijani civil society in Yerevan.

“The EU warmly welcomes these practical developments and stands ready to support all such initiatives and additional confidence-building measures. We also welcome the announced preparations for another Armenian-Turkish meeting on the rehabilitation and re-operation of the Gyumri-Kars railway,” the EU Special Representative wrote on her X page.
