In October, Russian oil company RusNeft delivered its first cargo of oil to a newly built refinery in the Georgian city of Kulevi, Reuters reported, citing ship tracking data and industry sources.
According to Reuters, the tanker Kayseri, which departed from Novorossiysk, delivered a cargo of Siberian Light crude oil to the Kulevi oil terminal on October 6. The tanker, as the agency notes, is on Greenpeace’s list of ships in the Russian shadow fleet.
Thus, Russia seeks to diversify its export routes. At the same time, Georgia, by creating the country’s first oil refinery, intends to reduce its dependence on fuel imports from Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Romania, and Kazakhstan, Reuters notes.
