The Washington summit ended years of conflict. Aliyev

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated at the second session of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Interstate Supreme Council in Astana that less than two years after the last clashes, Armenia and Azerbaijan are demonstrating a high level of political will.

“And the outcome of the initialing of the peace agreement just two years after the last clashes indicates that both countries have demonstrated a fairly high level of political will. And, of course, the role of US President Donald Trump in the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia deserves the highest assessment. The summit, which took place on August 8 in Washington, essentially put an end to the long-standing conflict and opened up great prospects for development, including in a broader regional context, on the Eurasian continent,” Aliyev stated.
