Senate fails shutdown resolution bill for 11th time

For the 11th time, the U.S. Senate has failed to pass a bill to fund the government and end the current shutdown.

The bill fell short of the 60 votes needed, 50 to 43, with no new Democrats.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune is expected to introduce a bill to pay federal workers and military personnel who continue to work during the funding freeze.

The bill will need the support of Democrats, who blocked a long-term military spending bill last week.
