US President Donald Trump has denied media reports that during his meeting with Zelensky, the issue of transferring the entire Donetsk region to Russian control was discussed in order to reach a peace agreement.
The US president clarified that the discussion was exclusively about a ceasefire on the front line.
"I said, stop on the front line, go home, stop fighting, stop killing people. We didn't discuss that. We think they should just stop where they are on the front line. The rest is very difficult to discuss. If it starts like this: 'You take this, we take that,' there are too many options. That's why I said: let them stop on the front line right now, go home, stop killing people, and that's it.
According to the president, the situation in Donbass should remain as it is at the moment.
"Let it remain as it is. It's already divided. "I think 78% of the territory is already occupied by Russia. Let everything remain as it is. Then we can discuss something in more detail over time," he added.
