“Putin wants to remain president until he dies. He needs public support, so he hopes to continue this war,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with NBC News.
“This war is not for land, but for our independence,” he said.
“We are not losing this war, and Putin is not winning. His army is currently weak. They managed to capture 1 percent of our land, but they lost 1.3 million people,” Zelensky said.
“If we really want a just and lasting peace, we need both sides in this tragedy. How can there be any agreements without us? Putin is like Hamas, but stronger,” he said.
