Putin and Zelensky are interested in peace. Trump

US President Donald Trump today received Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. Trump announced that a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin will take place in Hungary, and Zelensky will be in touch.

"It's a safe country. We respect Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for the good job he's done," he said, adding that tensions have built up between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents, and the situation remains difficult.

At the same time, Trump expressed confidence that both leaders are interested in ending the conflict.

"I spoke with Vladimir Putin for 2.5 hours, and my impression is that he wants peace. Zelensky wants it too," the US president noted.

Referring to the supply of weapons to Ukraine, Trump noted that the United States continues to provide support, but expects that it will not be needed soon.

"I hope we can end the war before we even think about Tomahawk missiles. I think we're close to that," he said.
