Ferrari chief executive Benedetto Vigna said the Italian carmaker began limiting the number of cars it exports to the UK about six months ago to prevent their value from falling on the secondary market.
In April, the British government scrapped the “non-dom” status that had previously allowed the wealthy to avoid paying taxes by claiming their permanent residence abroad.
Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves dismissed criticism of the wealthy, calling them “spreading terror”.
“This is a great country and people want to live here,” she said.
Reeves also said the wealthy would be among the targets of higher taxes in next month’s budget, having previously ruled out a “wealth tax,” but supporters of reform have highlighted other options.
