Ilham Aliyev has accepted the credentials of the newly appointed French Ambassador, Sophie Lagut.

Recalling his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Copenhagen, Aliyev stated that as a result of that meeting, the issues that caused misunderstandings between the two countries are a thing of the past.

He emphasized the start of a new stage in the bilateral agenda and attached importance, first of all, to the restoration and development of people-to-people and business contacts, as well as to cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Sophie Lagut, in turn, stated that a new page is opening in the relations between Azerbaijan and France, and expressed readiness to make every effort to develop these ties.

The successful energy partnership between Azerbaijan and France, as well as the importance of the country's cooperation with Total, were noted.
