US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on October 17.
During a briefing on Air Force One on his return from the Gaza summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, he was asked if he would welcome Zelensky to the White House. Trump responded in the affirmative.
The Ukrainian president had earlier said that the upcoming talks would focus on Ukraine’s air defense capabilities and the use of long-range missiles.
Trump also said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan could play a key role in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
“Erdogan could. He’s respected in Russia. I can’t say anything about Ukraine, but Putin respects him. Erdogan is my friend,” Trump said.
