Venezuela closes its embassy in Norway over the Nobel Prize

The Venezuelan government has announced the closure of its embassy in Norway. This came after Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Machado was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, NRK reported.

A spokeswoman for the Norwegian Foreign Ministry, Cecilie Roang, said the Venezuelan embassy in Oslo had been informed that it was being closed without explanation.

“This is regrettable. Although we have different views on several issues, Norway wants to maintain an open dialogue with Venezuela and will work towards that,” she said.

Before the closure, the Venezuelan embassy in Norway also served as an embassy for Venezuelans living in Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Iceland.
