Intense storms are hitting the east and west coasts of the US

A Nor’easter storm slammed into the U.S. East Coast on Sunday, disrupting transportation. Roads were flooded and flights were canceled.

Heavy rain, strong winds, and coastal flooding were reported in the densely populated northeastern regions.

Meanwhile, in western Alaska, the remnants of Typhoon Halong triggered storm surges and devastating flooding in coastal communities. Homes were torn entirely off their foundations.

Rescue planes were sent to the small Alaskan villages of Kipnuk and Kwigilingok, as up to 20 people were reported missing, a spokesman for the state’s Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management said.
