President Donald Trump has criticized Spain for failing to meet the 5 percent of GDP defense spending target agreed to by all NATO countries that summer.
“You should call them and find out why they’re falling behind. And they’re doing great, you know. Because of a lot of things that we’ve done, they’re doing great. Spain has no excuse for not meeting the defense spending that NATO countries have agreed to,” Trump said during a meeting with Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
“They should probably be kicked out of NATO, frankly,” Trump said.
