Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that the Russian side is openly lying to Trump about the successes in the eastern part of the country.
“I think that our meeting, plus the real facts, gives him a broader idea that the Russians are not selling him what they can do. That is, they are openly lying,” he said in a comment to reporters.
According to him, the reality is that the Russians cannot occupy eastern Ukraine very quickly. Still, Putin needs to show something, so this may be one of the reasons why certain regions are under intense Russian shelling.
