Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan answered journalists' questions upon his return from Azerbaijan. He noted that the situation in the South Caucasus was also discussed at the Turkic States Organization.
"We discussed joint efforts on priority foreign policy issues such as the Gaza Strip, Syria, and the stabilization process in the South Caucasus. We have reflected our approaches in the declaration," he said.
He also touched upon his recent meeting with Trump and the latest developments in Gaza.
"We have always been in touch with Hamas throughout this process. Now we are in touch again. We are explaining the most sensible way and what needs to be done so that Palestine can confidently move forward into the future. During both our visit to the United States and our recent phone call, we explained to Mr. Trump how a settlement can be reached in Palestine. He, in particular, asked us to meet with Hamas and convince them to agree," Erdogan said.
Erdogan emphasized that there is hope for peace in Gaza at this time.
