Initialing of the peace treaty will turn the Caucasus into a zone of peace. Aliyev

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has announced that the signing of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia will transform the South Caucasus into a zone of peace and stability.

At the same time, he stressed that they will never forget the occupation of Armenia: "We will keep sacred the memory of our martyrs, their blood that was shed on the battlefield."

Regarding the summit held in Washington on August 8, Aliyev noted that one of its essential results was "the opening of the Zangezur corridor, which will contribute to the strengthening of regional ties." According to him, energy security is one of the key directions for achieving peace, strengthening regional ties, and promoting economic development. "Azerbaijan has proven itself to be an indispensable and reliable partner for many countries in ensuring energy security," he said, adding that Azerbaijan currently supplies natural gas to 14 countries.

Aliyev also noted that Azerbaijan is actively participating in the formation of East-West and North-South transport corridors: "Now we are working towards the creation of a Central Asia-Azerbaijan-Turkey-Europe green energy corridor."
