French President Emmanuel Macron has announced a new cabinet in an attempt to pull the country out of a deepening political crisis. Macron's rivals have warned that they will attempt to quickly topple the new cabinet if it fails to break with the president's previous policies.
The new government was formed almost a month after Sebastien Le Corneille, Macron's seventh prime minister, was appointed. He is attempting to garner the support of various parliamentary forces, as the ruling centrist alliance lacks a majority.
Left-wing forces are again calling for presidential elections, but Macron has ruled out this option.
