17 flights canceled at Munich airport due to drones

Munich Airport has had 17 flights cancelled due to drone sightings. As reported by AFP, citing a spokesperson for the German Federal Police, several witnesses reported seeing drones near the airport on the morning of October 3. Later, it was reported that a drone had also been spotted in the airport area.

It is not yet clear whether it was a single drone or multiple drones. As a result, runways and landing strips were closed late on October 2.

Federal police and Bavarian police officers conducted searches in an attempt to locate flying objects or individuals of suspicious behavior. However, as reported by the DPA agency, the searches were unsuccessful.

The cancellation of flights affected about 3,000 passengers. The accident occurred during the Oktoberfest festival in Munich, which attracts millions of visitors from around the world every year.
