The French navy announced on Tuesday that authorities are investigating possible violations by the Boracay oil tanker, which is believed to be part of a shadowy fleet used by Russia to evade oil sanctions.
The ship is on the British and European Union sanctions lists against Russia.
The French navy said an investigation was underway. The prosecutor in Brest told Reuters that the investigation was launched after the crew failed to provide proof of the ship’s nationality and failed to follow orders.
