The European Union today reimposed sanctions on Iran in response to its failure to meet the requirements of the nuclear deal. “The door to diplomatic negotiations remains open,” the EU’s Danish presidency said in a statement.
The sanctions include an asset freeze on the Central Bank of Iran and other Iranian banks, as well as a travel ban on certain Iranian officials, the EU said.
The EU also bans the purchase and transportation of crude oil to Iran, as well as the sale or supply of gold and certain types of naval equipment. On Sunday, the UN reimposed an arms embargo and other sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program.
