In New York, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov participated in the Transatlantic Dinner hosted by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Ararat Mirzoyan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and Marco Rubio had a brief conversation.
The US State Department reported on the event: “US Secretary of State Marco Rubio hosted the 2025 Transatlantic Dinner, which was attended by the Foreign Ministers of the European Union and NATO member states, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, the High Representative of the European Union Kaja Kallas, as well as the Foreign Ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Switzerland, and Ukraine.
Secretary Rubio emphasized the importance of the transatlantic partnership in maintaining peace and achieving prosperity. He noted the historic commitment of NATO member states to increase defense spending to strengthen deterrence. In addition, Rubio emphasized the importance of continuing diplomatic cooperation to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The Secretary of State also touched on the importance of working together to counter China’s malign influence and achieve stability in the Middle East, including ensuring that Iran never develops or acquires nuclear weapons. He also praised the US President’s efforts to bring Armenia and Azerbaijan to a lasting peace.
