French President Emmanuel Macron and Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The French president wrote about the meeting on his X page.
“Our position is clear: Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons. Given Iran’s failure to fulfill its nuclear commitments, together with Germany and Britain, we have decided to activate the Snapback mechanism, which will allow the resumption of sanctions against Iran,” Macron wrote.
According to him, the demands on which the European side will not yield have been clarified: full access to Iran for IAEA inspectors, transparency regarding enriched uranium stocks, and the immediate resumption of negotiations.
“The agreement is still possible. There are only a few hours left. It depends on Iran: it must respond to the legal conditions we have set,” he stressed.
