Israel is approaching Gaza, while according to the BBC, Hamas is regrouping its forces and preparing for "fierce street battles".
Israel considers the city of Gaza to be the last stronghold of Hamas. It declares that its capture is necessary to destroy the terrorists, to free the 20 hostages still in captivity, and to return the bodies of the 28 dead Israelis.
According to Reuters, witnesses reported that Israeli tanks entered residential areas in the Tel al-Hava district, surrounding residents in their homes. Tanks were also spotted near Al-Quds Hospital.
In the BBC conversation, the representative of Hamas claimed that the movement is ready to move thousands of fighters to the city, which will increase the possibility of a heavy street confrontation, with thousands of civilians remaining there.
According to the previous estimate of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the number of fighters in Gaza may be up to 3,000.
