Americans are participating in the construction of the Armenian section. Hajiyev
Cargo transportation through the Middle Corridor is expected to increase by more than 50 million tons, Hikmet Hajiyev, an aide to the Azerbaijani president, said.
According to him, Azerbaijan is investing additional funds for this purpose. “The cargo transportation capacity of the Baku port is 25 million tons per year, and work is underway to expand this capacity,” Hikmet Hajiyev added.
He noted that the Baku-Zangelan-Armenia border railway project began in 2020 and is scheduled to be completed by mid-2026.
“Work is also underway on the 42-kilometer section of Zangezur, which is located in Armenia. Our partners from the United States are participating. The third section includes Nakhichevan. Additional investments are also being made here, and we invite other international partners, including European countries, to join us in this cooperation. The main goal is to turn the South Caucasus into a space of cooperation,” the aide to the Azerbaijani president said.
