US President Donald Trump, when asked whether he thought NATO countries should shoot down Russian aircraft that entered their airspace, said curtly: “Yes, I think so.”
And whether the United States would support NATO allies if they shot down a Russian drone or aircraft, Trump replied: “It depends on the circumstances.”
The questions were raised during a brief joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York.
Zelensky and Trump met in New York, where the 80th session of the UN General Assembly is underway.
During a briefing before the meeting, Zelensky thanked Trump for his support and agreed with his call for Europe to stop buying energy from Russia.
