New York City police unexpectedly stopped French President Emmanuel Macron after his historic speech at the UN recognizing the state of Palestine. The reason was reportedly the closure of streets for Trump's motorcade. Macron walked for about 30 minutes.
Video footage shows Macron, surrounded by his team, forced to wait in the street.
A few minutes later, the president called Donald Trump, joking: "I'm standing in the street because everything is closed for you."
The incident received a wide response on social networks: some assessed it as a normal security situation, while others saw it as a "symbolic" gesture with a political connotation.
It should be recalled that reputable media outlets write that the United States was against the recognition of the state of Palestine, which France also announced.
