Armenia and Azerbaijan took steps towards lasting peace: Erdogan

Turkey welcomes the efforts undertaken in Washington on August 8 to establish a lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

“We are happy that Armenia and Azerbaijan took steps towards a lasting peace on August 8. I congratulate Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and US President Donald Trump again, who contributed to this process,” he said.

Erdogan emphasized that, in this context, the normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia will proceed as planned.
