The US congressional delegation in China after a long break

A bipartisan delegation from the US House of Representatives visited China on September 21 after a five-year hiatus. Over the next five days, the members of Congress plan to hold meetings with senior Chinese officials to promote the resumption of dialogue between the two countries.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has already received the lawmakers. He stressed that Beijing is ready to cooperate with Washington “based on equality, mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.”

“We hope that the US Congress will correctly evaluate China and bilateral relations, promote contacts, and play a constructive role in the cause of friendship,” Li said.
