Trump intensifies ties with Beijing; mutual visits expected

US President Donald Trump said he had a productive phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Trump wrote about this on the Truth Social social platform, noting that during the conversation, the parties discussed several important issues, including trade, fentanyl, the need to end the Russian-Ukrainian war, and the TikTok deal.

According to Trump, the conversation was excellent, and they agreed to have another phone call. He also said that he and President Xi would meet on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea, and an agreement was reached that he would visit China in early 2026, and that Jinping would see the United States at a convenient time.

Trump added that he appreciated the approval of the TikTok deal and stressed that both sides were looking forward to meeting at the APEC summit.
