He has really disappointed me: Trump on Putin

US President Donald Trump met with Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the last day of his state visit to the United Kingdom. One of the main topics of the talks was the end of the war in Ukraine.

"We are working together to stop the killing in Ukraine," Starmer said at a joint press conference after talks with Trump.

"In recent days, Putin has shown his true colors, carrying out the largest attacks since the beginning of the invasion. More blood is being shed, more innocent people are being killed. Unprecedented violations of NATO airspace. These are not the actions of someone who wants peace," the prime minister continued.

"That is why we discussed today how we can strengthen defenses, support Ukraine, and increase pressure on Putin to agree to a peace agreement that will bring long-term peace," Starmer concluded.

In response, Trump reiterated that ending the war in Ukraine is a much more difficult task than he initially thought.

"He disappointed me. He really disappointed me," the US president said of Vladimir Putin. "I'm very disappointed that this conflict has not been resolved yet," Trump added.

Trump also repeated that if he, and not Joe Biden, had been the US president, there would not have been a war.

"I hope we will have good news on that soon," Trump said, without specifying what he meant.

In response to a question about sanctions against Russia, neither Trump nor Starmer gave a specific answer. Still, both leaders noted that European countries should be as dependent on Russian energy as possible.
