Lithuania has permanently suspended energy ties with Russia

Lithuania’s national electricity transmission operator Litgrid has announced that it has completely dismantled the sections connecting the country to the Kaliningrad region’s power grid.

The dismantling work began in early February this year, shortly after the Baltic states were connected to the European grid. This marks the end of more than 65 years of cooperation with the power systems of Russia and Belarus.

Litgrid also announced that the dismantling of the lines connecting Belarus is planned to be completed by 2027.
