According to the authoritative newspaper The Times, Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to recognize the state of Palestine over the weekend.
Starmer has already announced that he plans to recognize the state of Palestine before the UN General Assembly in New York this month, if Israel does not meet certain conditions.
The high-level meetings at the UN summit are scheduled to begin next week.
The Times reports that Starmer postponed the official announcement until after Trump leaves, fearing that it could become a dominant topic during the US president's visit.
He had disagreements with the Trump team on this issue, as Washington is against the official recognition of Palestine.
