EU prepares tough measures against Israel

The European Commission has proposed suspending the free trade agreement with Israel and imposing sanctions against ministers Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich.

This requires unanimity from all EU countries, and obtaining it is not easy at all. And, behold, an overwhelming majority can suspend the trade agreement.

It is reported that Italy’s vote will be crucial: in June, the country, together with Germany, blocked the initiative. If Berlin, as expected, is again against it, then a change in Rome’s position could decide the outcome of the issue.
