At the reopening of the Munich synagogue, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that the federal government would take decisive action against the new outbreak of anti-Semitism.
“We declare war on this anti-Semitism and will not tolerate it even in the name of art, culture, or science,” he said.
Merz recalled that anti-Semitism did not disappear in Germany even after the Holocaust, and noted that the problem is partly related to immigration in recent decades.
