US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant has said the United States will not impose tariffs on China for buying Russian oil until the European Union does the same.
Besant said European countries should play a more active role in cutting Russian oil revenues and ending the war in Ukraine.
“We expect the Europeans to do their part, and we will not move forward without them,” he said.
Besant criticized some European countries for buying Russian oil.
“I guarantee that if Europe imposes significant secondary tariffs on buyers of Russian oil, the war will be over in 60 or 90 days,” the US Treasury Secretary added.
