Turkey expects the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the first half of next year. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced this at a conference held at the Rome Institute of International Relations, where current international developments were discussed.
The Turkish Foreign Minister thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and US President Donald Trump for supporting the efforts to initial the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington.
Fidan also noted that he appreciates the historical risks taken by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in establishing peace and normalizing relations with Azerbaijan, especially after the developments in the Karabakh issue.
“When the final signatures are placed on the Armenia-Azerbaijan agreement, we will quickly normalize relations with Armenia,” Fidan stated.
