Tokyo was hit by a powerful typhoon on Tuesday, flooding streets and temporarily suspending air and rail services. The Japan Meteorological Agency said the capital received 12 centimeters of rain in an hour.

Lightning caused temporary disruptions to Haneda Airport and flights. Rail services, including bullet trains and other regional lines, were also suspended.

More than 7,000 homes in Tokyo lost power, but power was restored to most of them by evening.
