The search for the suspect in the murder of Donald Trump supporter and conservative activist Charlie Kirk continues in the US state of Utah. Kirk, 31, was shot in the neck during a speech near the University of Utah.
Law enforcement agencies have found the alleged murder weapon: it was found in a wooded area, from which the suspect escaped by jumping off a roof. The gun has been sent to a laboratory for examination.
Forensic scientists also found the suspect's shoe print, a fingerprint on the palm of his hand, and a fingerprint on his forearm. They also managed to determine the suspect's movements in the area adjacent to the university.
According to law enforcement, the single fatal shot was most likely fired from the roof of a building from which the university courtyard was clearly visible. It is suspected that the killer was "dressed in dark clothes." The person on the roof was about 130 meters (142 yards) from where Kirk was sitting.
In response to a question from reporters, law enforcement officials noted that the suspect looked similar to most students, which allowed him to "fit in well with the campus environment."
The FBI's Salt Lake City office later released a photo of a person of interest and appealed to the public for help in identifying him. This is the first image released by law enforcement that they believe may be connected to Kirk's murder.
