NATO does not consider Polish incident as an attack

NATO does not consider the incident of Russian drones entering Polish territory as an attack, Reuters reports, citing an alliance source.

According to the same source, initial indications indicate that this is a deliberate incursion by 6-10 Russian drones.

“This was the first time that NATO aviation was involved in the airspace of allied countries against potential threats,” the source emphasized.

NATO radars, including Patriot air defense systems, reportedly detected the drones, but did not open fire.

The night operation involved Polish F-16 fighters, Dutch F-35s, Italian AWACS reconnaissance aircraft, as well as air refueling aircraft operated jointly by NATO.
