According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Vladimir Putin told Trump’s envoy Witkoff that he would completely capture Donbas by the end of the year.
Zelensky recalled that the widespread claim that Russia has already controlled 70% of Donbas in three years is wrong. According to him, 10 years ago, the Kremlin seized Crimea and about a third of Donbas, and in four years of a large-scale war, it managed to occupy only 30% of the Donetsk region. Meanwhile, Ukraine controls about 32%.
“If Putin says that he will take Donbas in 2-4 months, the price for this is years and millions of victims. If he tries to do it faster, then this number will not be one, but two to three million people,” Zelensky emphasized.
