I thought the Russia issue would be one of the easiest to resolve. Trump

US President Donald Trump told CBS News that he remains committed to a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine.

Trump described his position as realistic and optimistic, emphasizing that he is closely following the steps of the two leaders at this crucial stage of the negotiations. “I’m watching, I’m seeing, and I’m talking to Putin and Zelensky about it,” he said, adding: “Something will happen, but they’re not ready yet. But Something will definitely happen. We will make it happen.”

According to him, the Russia-Ukraine conflict is more complicated than other conflicts that he has participated in resolving. “I thought the issue with Russia would be one of the easiest to resolve, but it seems to be more complicated than some of the other conflicts,” Trump said.

He also emphasized that the basis of his diplomatic approach is to bring the leaders of different conflicting countries together in one room and reach an agreement in real time, often with his direct participation. Trump said the method requires patience, even if a quick solution is expected, but it has already yielded results in several peace agreements this year.

Asked if it is sometimes necessary to “wait,” Trump said, “Yes, it is necessary.” He added, “We have had very successful days, and when I get them in a room or at least get them talking to each other, they find solutions. We have saved millions of lives.”

Last month, ahead of a planned meeting with Putin in Alaska, Trump told reporters, “I just want to lay the groundwork for the next meeting, which should be happening soon.”
