Russian-Indian cooperation is actively developing based on the principles of a special privileged strategic partnership, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

During a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the SCO summit, Putin noted that December 21 marks the 15th anniversary of the adoption of the joint statement, which stated that relations between the two countries were moving beyond the level of a special privileged strategic partnership.

"It can be confidently stated that Russian-Indian multifaceted ties are actively developing based on these principles. Multilevel interaction has been established," the Russian President said.

"We closely coordinate our efforts in the international arena: the UN, BRICS, the G20, and, of course, the SCO. Today is a good opportunity to discuss the main issues of further development of multifaceted bilateral cooperation in various areas," Putin said.

The Russian President is eagerly awaited in India in December for the 23rd annual Russian-Indian summit. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the announcement.

"In December 2025, 1.4 billion Indians are eagerly awaiting you for the 23rd annual summit between our countries," Modi said.
