Georgian and American officials highlight Trump's peace initiative

Georgian Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili and US Charge d’Affaires Alan Purcell met in Tbilisi to discuss the prospects for international routes amid the expected lifting of the blockade on transport links between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Kvrivishvili stressed that the peace agreements between Yerevan and Baku brokered by Donald Trump “have opened up new opportunities for development in the South Caucasus region.”

“The Minister particularly emphasized the importance of President Trump’s peacemaking initiatives, including the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which has created new opportunities for the development of the South Caucasus. According to him, this result is important for maintaining peace and security in the region, which is a political priority of the Georgian government,” the Georgian Economy Ministry said in a statement.

The parties paid special attention to the development of the Middle Corridor. It connects the ferry terminals of the Caspian and Black Seas with the railway networks of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Poland.

They emphasized Georgia’s role as a key player in regional transit projects, as well as the importance of developing the Middle Corridor as a stable, safe, and efficient route connecting Europe and Asia.
