On August 8, the Washington Agreements were signed, marking a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was announced by the RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on the air of the Public Television.
"We are not saying that it has been signed, yes, it has been initialed, there will be actions, but I assume that the subsequent stages of signing and ratification may not even be able to exceed the initialing in their weight," he emphasized.
According to Mirzoyan, the initial agreement and the signed declaration stem from and are built on mutual benefit for Armenia and Azerbaijan. No provision benefits one country and harms another.
"The infrastructures are being unblocked under the following principles: territorial integrity, including the inviolability of borders, within the framework of the sovereignty and jurisdiction of countries, and with reciprocity. All necessary guarantees have been recorded. "Before the infrastructure opens, there must be a demarcation, and a border checkpoint must be built," the minister explained.
