Moscow is not going to change the names of streets and other city objects associated with Ukraine, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.
The journalist recalled that in Ukraine, they are renaming streets associated with the USSR, and some are proposing to take countermeasures. He noted that in Moscow, for example, there are Lesya Ukrainka Street, Taras Shevchenko Embankment, and the Kievskaya metro station.
“You read what the president says: the Ukrainian people are a fraternal people. The fact that some madmen are at the helm of the Ukrainian government today does not mean that we should break off contact with the people themselves, change the names, and declare that we hate them now. That would be irresponsible,” Sobyanin replied.
