The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has raided the Maryland home and Washington office of former national security adviser John Bolton, the Associated Press reported. The raids are part of an ongoing investigation into possible misuse of classified information.
Bolton has not been arrested, and no charges have been filed against him.
The raids are seen as the most high-profile crackdown on former critics by the Trump administration. They come as the Trump administration is actively investigating former critics, including the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation.
In response to the raids, FBI Director Kash Patel, who previously called Bolton a member of the "deep state of the executive branch," tweeted: "No one is above the law… FBI agents on a mission."
Bolton's representatives and his lawyer did not provide a comment. The White House referred questions to the FBI, which also declined to comment.
