US President Donald Trump has announced that he will personally patrol the streets of the country's capital on Friday night as part of his campaign to combat crime.
"I will be on the streets tonight. Of course, with the police and the military," he said in an interview with radio host Todd Starnes.
On August 11, Trump announced the deployment of US National Guard forces to the capital to combat crime. The president transferred the city's police to the control of the federal government and noted that if necessary, the military could also be involved in ensuring the security of Washington.
