North Korea has built a secret military base near its border with China that could house Pyongyang’s latest long-range ballistic missiles, a new study says.
The undeclared Sinpung-dong missile base is located about 27 kilometers (17 miles) from the Chinese border, according to a report released yesterday by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington.
The facility in North Pyongan province is believed to house six to nine intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) capable of carrying nuclear warheads, along with their launch sites.
The weapons are said to pose a potential nuclear threat to East Asia and the continental United States.
