Thailand has announced the launch of an 18-month pilot program that will allow foreign visitors to exchange cryptocurrencies for Thai baht for local payments. The move is aimed at boosting the country’s tourism industry, a significant source of foreign exchange.
Crypto exchanges will be capped at 550,000 baht (about $16,950) during the trial to monitor the system and prevent potential money laundering, the finance ministry secretary said.
